BB Display

BB Display is a font inspired by ‘béton brut’, a French term for ‘raw concrete’ that leaves a textured and unpolished finish after being cast.

Brand Identity, Typography

The typeface is inspired by the unpredictable patterns that concrete takes when set in the béton brut style as well as the prevalence of columns and totemic structures typically used in brutalist architecture, a couple of examples being the Royal National Theatre and the Barbican estate. The letterforms themselves are designed as a compromise between the organic and the industrial.
